xLite Beta

This is a Beta release of xLite; a datasmithing tool that combines the power of Excel with SQLite (and Python!).

The codebase will be introduced on a phased basis, concentrating on one or two functions per release.  Although the full functionality will be available from day one, functions that have not been "introduced" are liable to be changed or removed.

xLite is a VBA add-in and may be "installed" like any other add-in. But to ease testing and as a feature in itself, the add-in and associated DLLs need simply be un-zipped into a folder (or USB drive) and by adding a few lines of start-up code to the "calling" workbook (see TestSQL.xls in first release) the add-in will be ready for testing.

To use the Python dependant functionality, you must have Python 2.6 installed (you can change the Python library expected by setting a workbook property "xLitePythonLib" to the name of the Python DLL (e.g. Python25.dll for 2.5), but versions earlier than 2.5 are unlikely to work). Only a small subset of experimental functions require Python.

Supporting files (Sqlite3.dll, Python scripts etc.) are expected to be in the same folder as the add-in or in 3 sub-folders Python,Libs & Bin under that folder.  A custom worksheet property "xLiteSource" can be used to assign a separate support folder to that of the add-in.

xLite has been tested under Excel 2003 and Excel 2010 Beta but should work with all editions >= Excel 2000.
